In the Spirit of Julia Child: Berry Preserving, Simply Done
Thu, May 14 at 2:30pm
A hands-on workshop in fruit, sugar, and confidence. Step into a slower, more tactile way of cooking—one that celebrates seasonality, intuition, and the quiet satisfaction of making something by hand. In this hands-on workshop inspired by Julia Child’s approach to demystifying technique, we’ll work with peak-season fruit to create a simple, beautiful preserve together. Along the way, you’ll learn the essential principles behind preserving—how to balance sweetness and acidity, how fruit transforms with heat, and how to trust your senses rather than follow rigid rules. This is not a demonstration. You’ll be actively involved throughout—cutting, stirring, tasting, adjusting—learning through doing, in the spirit of Julia’s belief that cooking should be joyful, forgiving, and accessible. We’ll also explore how to use what we make: spooned over cake or ice cream, folded into yogurt, or simply eaten on good bread. Each guest will leave with a small jar of preserve, along with the confidence to continue at home.
Includes:
Hands-on instruction and guided making
